As Official Sponsor and and Official Watch of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer hosted quite an eventful race weekend! Jean-Claude Biver, TAG CEO and President of the LVMH Watches Division, was joined by racing driver, actor and TAG Ambassador Patrick Dempsey; Ambassador for Monaco in China Catherine Fautrier; Red Bull Racing Team drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen; and Chinese superstars singer G.E.M. and actor Li Yifeng to celebrate the brand’s extensive involvement with the sport, as well as the launch of the its latest collections, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing and the TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold.
Celebrating the racing mindset
In honor of the famously unconventional F1 team, two special edition TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Team watches; a steel quartz chronograph with the team’s colors, midnight blue and red, with a stainless steel bracelet, and another model sporting a technical textile strap with red stitching inspired by racing car seatbelts.
The watches’ bezel features a matte blue aluminium tachymeter scale mirroring TAG’s Formula 1 collection DNA, and the quartz chrono movement is accurate to a tenth of a second, ensuring an indispensable feature in a motor racing watch: precision to the second.
Technology meets luxury.
Building on the huge success its first connected watch, the brand launched a new, more luxurious version of the smartwatch: the TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold, in 18K rose gold. Designed and developed in partnership with Intel and Google Android, the digital timepiece offers the same qualities, functions and properties as the original model, held in a 46 mm case made of precious metal.
Featuring 4GB of memory and a latest-generation lithium battery providing an entire day of autonomy, the wristwatch is fitted with a small microphone allowing communication with it through Google Voice control. It is also designed to be water-resistant for everyday wear, and can be synchronized with a mobile phone operating on Android 4.3+ or iOS 8.2+. Being user friendly on every level, the piece can be recharged using a wireless contact charger.
TAG Heuer’s passion for motor racing has been clear and well defined, since it became first watch brand to sponsor a professional driver in 1969, to signing up as a Team Partner and Official Watch of the F1 Red Bull Racing team in 2015, followed by this year’s partnership as Official Timekeeper for the centenary of the legendary American Pikes Peak race.
From racing time on the track to connecting time with the world, this disruptive watchmaker sure does keep us wondering what’s next!
