The story of the Portofino watch family began in the late 1970s. IWC Schaffhausen noted a steady demand for timeless, classic models. The elegant IWC Lépine pocket watch served as the inspiration for the new watch line: its dial was turned through 90 degrees and a moon phase display was added. The new “pocket-watch-style wristwatch”, which was unveiled in 1984, went by the name “Portofino”. Since then, the Portofino collection has been one of IWC’s most successful watch families: an expression of understatement and good taste. In 2014,IWC introduces the new Portofino Midsize watch collection: radiant beauties of timeless elegance with slightly smaller dimensions – an ideal choice for watch lovers who prefer a less voluminous watch.
