Hublot is known for being “First, Different and Unique”. Those attributes translate into everything it does, from using innovative or unexpected materials in watches, to some of its amazing collaborations. The partnership with Ferrari is no exception. Since 2011, the watchmaker and the carmaker have been creating together remarkable timepieces that take from both their DNAs. At Baselworld 2019, the brand launched two new Hublot Ferrari collections: the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT and the Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th Anniversary. CEO of Hublot Ricardo Guadalupe told us all about these new watches in a one on one during the fair, introduced us to some of the other big novelties, and talked about partnerships in the world of art, golf, football. The Classic Fusion Ferrari GT‘s extremely innovative design integrates the new Unico manufacture movement in a body fully inspired from “Grand Touring” cars. Available in three different cases: Titanium, King Gold and 3D Carbon, the speeding pieces are limited to 1,000, 500 and 500 pieces respectively.
Conceived in collaboration with the Ferrari Design Centre, the Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th Anniversary celebrates Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th year with three limited editions -platinum, sapphire and 3D carbon- each sporting one of the Scuderia’s three colors on its border, numbers and index.
Our faves: the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm in striking blue or black carbon, fitted with the One-Click strap changing system for the first time in this collection; and the multi-faceted, eye-catching Classic Fusion Orlinski 40mm in collaboration with French artist Richard Orlinski. And for those who like a “bit” -lot!- of color, the Big Bang Unico Rainbow 45mm or One-Click 39mm, joyful bundles of hundreds of brilliant-cut stones in the colors of the rainbow.
You must really buy a watch with emotion,” said Mr, Guadalupe. And emotion is exactly what this year’s novelties convey!
