Back in 2006, Hublot was the first luxury brand to penetrate the world of football, no foul no offside, marking a super new way of playing the field in sports sponsorships. Since then, Hublot has racked one goal after the other by partnering with FIFA as Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the FIFATM World Cup -highlighted by the launch of the “Hublot Loves Football” campaign last year at the FIFA World Cup BrazilTM-, with UEFA as Official Watch of EURO 2012 and 2016, and by sponsoring and designing special edition watches with prestigious clubs and famous football figures including Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Pele and Mourinho. This year, the Swiss brand scores even bigger by adding two partnerships to its roster and a new PSG special edition watch.
The first announcement came as a strong play backing up the partnership with FIFA and strengthening the company’s football strategy, with Hublot also becoming the “Official Licensed Watch” for the UEFA Champions LeagueTM and the UEFA Europa League for the next 3 years! The brand will be displayed on the newly-designed fourth official boards indicating player substitutions and additional end-match time in every match from 2015 to 2018.
Following the green of the pitch, the “Blues” are now also on Hublot time, as reigning English Premier League champions Chelsea Football Club has chosen Hublot as its Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. Along with 3 other Hublot partners Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich and Juventus, Chelsea is part of a small circle of clubs that have won all 3 European cups, which adds value to the prestigious partnership. The watchmaker will have strong visibility in Stamford Bridge with presence on the LED score display screens and on the numerous clocks around the stadium.

The third football related announcement was the launch of the new official PSG watch. Hublot has been the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of renowned French club Paris Saint-Germain since 2013, with their first timepiece: the King Power Paris Saint-Germain. The new and 2nd Hublot Official Watch of PSG, the Big Bang Unico Bi- Retrograde Paris Saint-Germain, was unveiled with some of the team’s star players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Silva during an exclusive cocktail on the rooftop of the historic Rockefeller Center in New York, and was hosted by former New York Giants’ QB and Friend of Hublot, Jesse Palmer.
Inspired by the iconic team colours, with embellishments of red, white and blue on the dial, hands and strap, the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Paris Saint-Germain, features a 45.5mm titanium case with the PSG logo printed on the case back glass. Sporting Hublot’s in-house Unico self-winding bi-retrograde movement and designed to time two halves of a soccer match, the sporty timepiece is limited to 100 pieces and will be available exclusively at Hublot boutiques around the world.
With so many “goals” scored, Hublot doesn’t seem ready to hand in its football cleats just yet, leaving both football and watch fans wondering: what are they playing next?
