Dubai’s watch industry, collectors and aficionados are eagerly awaiting Dubai Watch Week (DWW), the region’s only cultural and educational event focusing on the world of fine Swiss timepieces and watchmaking. Organized by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in association with Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), the first edition of DWW will take place in DIFC from October 18 to 22. As part of its program, DWW announced the Art of Horology, a dedicated forum of curated topics, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and with the support of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and The Dubai Mall.
Being the first of its kind and hosting over 20 speakers including leading watch historians, writers, collectors, brands and industry professionals such as Aurel Bacs GPHG president of the jury, watch journalist/author Elizabeth Doerr, and scholar/collector Auro Montanari, the Art of Horology will reinforce the industry’s stand in the region. Aiming at educating and engaging with the public -amateur and watch enthusiasts alike- the forum will tackle various relevant themes like innovation, creativity and creation.
DWW is also holding a public exhibition of high complication and haute joaillerie watches that are competing in the various categories of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
