Hublot Palace / Official opening with Howard Webb

Inauguration of the “Hublot Palace” in Rio de Janeiro

Howard Webb is one of the referees selected for the final of the FIFA 2014 World Cup™, and also refereed the final of the FIFA 2010 World Cup™. At this event, the new design of the World Cup referee board was unveiled to the media for the very first time. This is the board used to notify the referee of extra time and substitutions. The new look is directly inspired by the original design of a Hublot watch.

In true Hublot tradition, following on from its prestigious addresses in Place Vendôme, Madison Avenue, Ginza, Plaza 66, Beverly Hills and Dubai Mall, the Boutique-Hotel Hublot Palace is based in a unique location. Hublot has without a doubt set up camp at the best address in Rio: located right on the legendary Copacabana Beach, next to the Sofitel hotel where FIFA has set up its headquarters, and in front of the main broadcasters’ TV studios, the Hublot Palace is in the city’s nerve centre. It is an exceptional base for this World Cup.

With its completely redecorated lobby, two fully-equipped terraces on the roof with giant screens for watching the matches and enjoying the meals prepared by two French chefs, and 130 rooms, this hotel has been completely privatised and its layout completely changed by Hublot to meet the standards it employs in its boutiques, with its aesthetic codes, furnishings and decorative motifs. It is open for the entire duration of the FIFA Football World Cup™, for which Hublot is the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch.

The “Hublot Loves Football” campaign is on display, exhibiting a collection of artistic portraits of the brand’s footballing ambassadors and friends. Guests can also enjoy a veritable gastronomic experience, a selection of cigars provided by Hublot’s partner Fuente, and a bar organised with the support of LVMH in Brazil, including Moët champagne, Hennessy cognac and Belvedere vodka.

For those guests who do not have to leave the city for matches, a varied range of activities is on offer, including visits to the old city, the botanical gardens, and, of course, Sugarloaf Mountain and Corcavado. Why not enjoy it by helicopter!

Naturally, the cheese produced by Mr Biver will be available for guests to try, as will the Vaud Wines which Hublot is promoting alongside Presence Switzerland here in Rio. In total, more than a thousand guests will pass through during the four weeks of the World Cup. The entire Hublot team is completely devoted to ensuring their experience is unique!
