Fairy tale princesses and heroines, the Lanvin Petite collection for winter 2013 combines savoir faire with candy pink dreams, exactly right for little girls with very definite tastes.
Fabrics borrowed from the women’s range and couture finishes combine with sequins and brightly coloured calicos to create a wardrobe for elegant little girls. The dresses in duchess satin “like the big girls”, are decorated with delightful roses at the waist or on the shoulder. And to brave the winter cold what could be better than a red double sided jersey coat with tone on tone lapels, just like Mummy’s.
A gold seersucker scalloped jacket with three quarter length sleeves is adorned with subtle details, like the buttons sewn onto black edging. The red felt coat proclaims military style, softened with trompe l’oeil scalloped edging closed with golden buttons. The splendid heather grey wool jersey coat is trimmed with fake fur at the neck and elbows, in a shape reminiscent of a cape with flared back; proportions borrowed from the emblematic models in the runway shows.
Animal prints are also found on materials such as supple calfskin or goatskin suede, used on dresses, jackets and skirts. A faux leopard jacket is matched with pony skin boots using the same print, whilst a tiger jacquard dress is teamed with golden metallic goatskin boots. The wild animal prints create a very couture style zoo that little ones will love.
As for accessories, our little princesses carry a fabric bag embroidered with Lanvin’s famous dolls, and were ballet flats that even the big girls secretly dream of wearing.
Lanvin Petite Winter 2013 is a marvellous illustration of what the motto for Lanvin’s Jeanne and daughter logo could be, “good taste begins at the earliest age”.
