Berluti presented its Spring Summer 2016 collection in Paris last month, inspired by the modernist architecture of Chandigarh, a city designed by Le Corbusier in northern India in the early 1960s. The clear contrast between the city’s concrete structures and the verdant parkland surrounding it lent the collection its urban while suburban aspect, giving it simultaneous hardwearing and featherweight characteristics achieved by Berluti’s latest lightweight, durable and waterproof materials. The colour palette follows Berluti’s usuals such as iolite violet, turquoise, rhodonite red, onyx black, meteorite, aluminium and calcium greys, with all materials sporting a matt finish.
The clothing collection comprises: narrow-fit jackets, wide leg trousers, loose cotton and leather half-button shirts, and striped silk and wool knitwear. On the shoe side -you all know we love those!- shine the triple colourway Playtime trainers that allow customers to specify their preferred patina colours, the Alessio loafer with a trainer-like sole, and the new slip-on Victor loafer. The classic Berluti bags are renewed with powder-coated leather in a series of densely pigmented colours with a total matt effect.
Here are our favourite looks and accessories from the runway, for a laid back yet chic style. What we liked the most? Suits are worn with the Playtime trainers!
In the words of Berluti’s Artistic Director, Alessandro Sartori, “The combination of ultra-technical materials, such as silk/paper blends and powder-coated leather, and their featherweight lightness with the durability and performance of the garments has enabled us to create a vibrantly coloured, sharp, contemporary and innovative Berluti wardrobe for spring/summer 2016.”
