A true test of precision and accuracy, the Dubai Showjumping championship took place over a period of three days, from the 30th of January to the 1st of February and brought forth a host of talented riders who competed with each other for top honors. This year, Longines presented two classes – the Longines Speed Stakes (class 4) on day 2 and the Longines Accumulator on day 3, which allowed competitors to choose the final jump they will contest. The competition rewards participants with points based on the fences they have cleared and the level of difficulty achieved with the eventual winner being decided by the highest total points and fastest time.
Longines’ President, Mr. Walter von Känel said, “We are very proud to be the Official Timekeeper of the 2014 Dubai Show Jumping Championship. Our brand is very much involved in this amazing sport as we are the first Top Partner of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and the title partner of the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping.”
Coupling an impressive score and timing combination, the top rider who emerged victorious in the Longines Accumulator was Michel Hecart. The triumphant rider completed the jumps with a point total of 44.
Matching the elegance and exactitude of the event was the striking Conquest Classic Steel and Gold timepiece that was named the official watch of the event. Inspired by the equestrian arena, the Conquest Classic timepiece honors the chronographs produced from 1881 on for race-goers and jockeys in New York. True to Longines’ sophisticated values, this new collection of models, all fitted with self-winding calibers, is at the same time totally contemporary and perfectly timeless and beautifully adorn the wrists of both men and women.
