Held from March 16-20 at The Venue, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai, Design Days Dubai coincide with Art Week, reinforcing Dubai’s growing positioning as an art and design hub in the region. Forty-four renowned international participants from twenty countries including leading international design organizations World Design Capital-Taipei 2016 (Taiwan) and Beijing Design Week (China) will exhibit modern and contemporary works at what is considered to be the Middle East and South Asia’s only collectible design fair.
The significance of light continues to be a key theme
Design being as much an experiential as an observational process, live installations and performances will make for a significant highlight at the event. A homage to the Emirati culture of falconry, ‘Posa Project’ will showcase luxurious perches by Massimo Faion of Italy, while a live presentation by Iraqi/Dutch designer Hozan Zangana will recreate ‘Sofraye Haft Sin’, a ritual setting of the table carried out during the Iranian New Year Nowruz.
Design Days Dubai is also sponsored by French high-jewelry maison Van Cleef & Arpels (also showing a new collection of exceptional stones entitled Pierres de Caractère), Emaar and Audi, the latter welcoming key collectors and design enthusiasts at this year’s Audi Lounge.
