Writing is one of ways to record history and the Egyptian civilization is one of the prime examples of this from the invention of papyrus to the creation of the hieroglyphics language.
The discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb and the mysteries inside it created one of the biggest cultural events of the 20th century. A new era of Egyptomania has dawned influencing every part of the arts and intellectual life – from the Art Deco movement through films and literature to unique writing instruments.
Turning writing instruments into works of art is what Montblanc does best and the new Montblanc Heritage Egyptomania is a revival of the Ancient Egyptian treasures. Here at Mr. Ping we decided to add our twist to these beautiful creations.
Reminiscent of the richly decorated exterior of King Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus, the yellow gold exterior is inspired by the precious objects found in his tomb. The solid gold heritage nib features a crook and flail design – a symbol for the divine authority of the kings and queens of Egypt – and is set with a diamond.
The turquoise scarab beetle opening mechanism, decorated with carnelian, opens to reveal the writing instrument. It is only fitting that one of the greatest civilizations to ever exist is honoured with craftsmanship at its best.
