At The Mountain Peak With Montblanc’s Jerome Lambert
Mr. Lambert believes SIHH has been very resilient in facing economic, social and health crisis throughout the years. He affirms that value, quality and technical excellence are intrinsic to the Montblanc product, and explains that market demand on value is increasing, which proves that the brand has made the right choice in focusing on that element. He tells us about the 2015 novelties, starting with the Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama. Lambert labels the Geosphères as “amazing”, “strong in its design, strong in its content”. The watch is a first whereas it simultaneously features the North and South in a three-dimensional way. Limited to 18 editions only, the watch is rightly described by Lambert as “a pure and absolute piece of art”.
Jerome then shows us the Heritage Chronométrie ExoTourbillonMinuteChronograph with its ExoTourbillon, fully developed and patented by Montblanc. TheHeritage Chronométrie collection joins the fundamental characteristics of fine watchmaking, the best Swiss craftsmanship and Montblanc’s traditions and savoir-faire. As for the ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph, it artfully combines two of the most important chronometric complications:a chronograph measuring the duration of brief intervals and a precise patented tourbillon construction through which the brand offers, for the first time, a stop–second function which halts the screw balance directly thanks to a tiny spring. The ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph features components unlike those of other models from the collection; the bezel’s concave shape protects it from scratches and creates an attractive aesthetic effect; the satin–finished facetted horns arepolished on the outside, and the Montblanc emblem is elegantly crafted as a distinctive relief on the crown.
We then went on to discover other novelties on our own, and were quite intrigued by the TimeWalker Urban Speed e-Strap, a smart watch that represents a first in the luxury world. as Montblanc was the first luxury brand to merge fine watchmaking and wearable technology. The e-Strap is an interchangeable strap sporting an integrated technology device with an activity tracker, smart notifications, remote controls and Find-Me functions, and connects to selected Android and iOS smartphones via Bluetooth Low Energy. The TimeWalker Urban Speed e-Strap models will be available as of June 2015, with or without the e-Strap device.
Montblanc never fails to impress, whether with limited edition pens, leather goods or innovative watches. Following Vasco da Gama’s footsteps, the brand is poised to explore new territories, and we can’t wait to discover them!
