Caging the Web-Slinger – RJ’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Tourbillon

RJ has, once again, partnered with comic book powerhouse –MARVEL Studios– to unveil its latest horological Marvel. The ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon is the second model the two companies partnered on. Inspired by Marvel Studios’ most iconic character Spider-Man, the watch will be the first RJ piece to boast the watchmaker’s first movement manufactured completely in-house.

Produced entirely within the walls of RJ’s Studio on the shores of Lake Geneva, the 45mm ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon is available in two materials with each iteration produced in only 10 pieces. Paying homage to Marvel’s friendly neighborhood web-slinger, the first version is crafted in a red composite made of carbon and fiberglass, while the black version is completely made of black carbon giving it a stealthier look.

“It was a pleasure for us to work closely with the team at MARVEL Studios, who has put its trust in our hands for the creation and development of our first complicated watch designed in honor of Spider-Man,” explained Marco Tedeschi, CEO and Creative Director of RJ.

With its first in-house central tourbillon, RJ set out to achieve a remarkably long power reserve which necessarily requires an oversized barrel. On the ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon,  the hours and minutes are displayed in a unique peripheral format, this was made possible by a planetary gear system that orbits 360° around the tourbillon.

“For the first time, a character and his universe inspired us not only in the aesthetics but also in the technicality of the movement. And it is no coincidence that we have chosen a tourbillon: light, rapid and ethereal. Its increased power reserve of more than six days makes a fitting tribute to Spider-Man’s own endurance and performance,” concluded Tedeschi.

The ARRAW watch box, characterized by its round shape and the iconic four RJ BUMPERS™, has been customized for the first time with Spider-Man’s attributes. Made of black wood, the watch box resembles a spider thanks to the eight spider legs fixed to the side. Spider-Man’s web and logo are also engraved on the lid. This is one web you really want to get caught in!
