Tag Heuer At Baselworld2015, Where Noone Cracks Under Pressure

As Cristiano Ronaldo is a brand ambassador and part of the TAG family, the first novelty Marc Walti introduced is Cristiano Ronaldo’s special edition Formula 1 42MM. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 CR7 quartz chronograph is a tribute to the football legend. The striking green lines on the timepiece resemble the grass of the football pitch, while the black chequered dial and matte black case contrast with the bright green motif as does the goal and net on the field. Equal parts striking and sporty, the CR7 is sure to impress fans of all ages and not only the young generation which is the watch’s primary target according to Marc.

When introducing the next timepiece, Walti mentioned that TAG is very proud to have British super model Cara Delevingne as a new brand ambassador and calls her “a bit disruptive”, pointing out that “[…] she has an elegant part on the podium but she’s also a rebel outside of the podium.” In the Cara Delevingne special edition TAG Heuer Carrera collection timepiece, TAG decided to try to fit both sides of Cara into the product. The watch is refined from the top, with a sunray dial, touches of rose gold on the indices and hands, and a diamond-studded bezel. While the face of the timepiece exudes understated glamour and sophistication, the back boasts the stamp of a lion head representing the star sign which Cara was born and the tattoo on her index finger, along with her signature -also tattooed on her wrist- on the inside of the calfskin strap.Tag Cara

We also tackled the obvious: the changes in vision and in product direction during the past two years, and the challenges faced by the brand due to that. Marc shared insights with us and took the opportunity, while talking about the new strategies and ideas, to tell us more about the David Guetta Edition.

Lastly, Marc showed us the Monaco V4 Phantom timepieceTag Monaco V4 Phantom –the world’s first watch driven by belts. The V4 name is derived from the timepiece’s four barrels which are arranged in a V shape. He points out that the new 2015 execution is very light because the case is made of CMC (carbon matrix composite). Matte, black, and stealth-like, this watch is good enough for Batman. And Steve McQueen (who wore the first Monaco V4 in his film Le Mans, in 1971). The breakthrough innovations in this double-patented timepiece are redefining the aesthetics and engineering of conventional watchmaking.

Speaking of Cristiano Ronaldo and Cara Delevingne, both TAG ambassadors warmed up the paddock on race day at the Monaco Grand Prix with drivers Alonso and Button, at the Mc Laren-Honda garage. Closer to go time, the starting grid was fired up by Grid Girl Cara and the TAG Heuer Grid Boys, setting the mood for millions of fans and getting the drivers psyched about the race. The previous night, Jean-Claude Biver, President of the LVMH Group Watch Division and CEO of TAG Heuer, welcomed guests aboard the SeaDream, moored in the Principality’s harbour and decked out in brand colours, for a laid back and exclusive party. Cara and her sister actress Poppy, Alonso and the McLaren-Honda Team -with which TAG is celebrating 30 years of partnership this year– and DJ Mark Ronson partied the night away in pure TAG style!
