Put on your helmet and leather jacket, we’re going for a ride!
The new Harley-Davidson® Roadster™ motorcycle leaves behind it a trail of nearly 6 decades of heritage. Joining the Dark Custom lineup, it is stripped to the essentials of a pure riding machine, boasting a minimalist design inspired by the classic racing Sportster motorcycles of the 50s and 60s. A bold visual statement, a modern performance, a beast for the real rider…
According to Harley-Davidson Director of Styling Brad Richards, the Sportster line has been constantly reinvented since its introduction in 1957, and the Roadster now sets a new milestone on that road. He describes it as “a mash-up of styling genres”, intended to be a lean and powerful Sportster “that connects the rider to the road.”
The new Roadster is equipped with new very light wheels -inspired by classic laced wheels- and tires mated to premium suspension components and an air-cooled 1200cc V-Twin engine that delivers a strong pulse of mid-range torque. The 19-inch front and 18-inch rear Offset-Split 5-Spoke cast aluminum wheels, designed specifically for this model, contribute to its balanced and athletic look. The motorcycle’s suspension is enhanced by new 43mm inverted single-cartridge forks with tri-rate springs, gripped in robust triple clamps and rear suspension featuring gas-charged emulsion coil-over shocks and tri-rate springs with adjustable pre-load and offers greater suspension travel than any other Sportster model – 4.5 inches in front and 3.2-inches in the rear. Outstanding stopping power is achieved with dual floating rotors on the front wheel.
Available in four colors combinations: Vivid Black with a charcoal denim pinstripe; Black Denim with a red pinstripe; Velocity Red Sunglo with a red pinstripe; and two-tone Billet Silver/Vivid Black with a burgundy pinstripe, the new model takes on different attitudes and presents itself as a versatile machine.
Harley-Davidson Motor Company has been creating unforgettable riding experiences and enriching riders’ ‘dreams of personal freedom’ since 1903, and the new Roadster is surely delivering on that by giving its rider an aggressive stance while keeping the classic elegance of the iconic motorcycle.
