Audi has been making fast estates (or station wagons) in Europe for quite some time now, but only recently have these come to our side of the world. The car being an estate, I thought it wouldn’t be much fun to drive, but boy how wrong I was!
Angry and aggressive with flared wheel arches, large air intakes, 21’’ rims and two sizeable exhausts at the back, the 2015 Audi RS6 Avant looks menacingly good. In typical Audi fashion, the interior is wonderful and well put together. The added ‘sporty’ touches such as carbon fibre inlays, leather sports seats with honeycomb stitching, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and RS badges, hint that this is a luxury performance car. And I should mention, it is massively practical as well.
Thanks to the twin turbo charged V8 that produces 560 Bhp and 700 Nm of Torque, the RS6 has monumental straight-line speed, accelerating from 0-100km in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 280 km/h. These are numbers you’d associate with a supercar and not an estate. Oh, and it makes one hell of a noise!
With performance that beats almost anything on the road and the practicality of a family estate, the Audi RS6 is a very special car indeed.
